What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site work properly, remember your preferences, and — with your consent — let us understand how the site is used and measure the effectiveness of our advertising.
How we use cookies
We group our cookies into two categories:
Strictly necessary cookies Always on
These are essential for the site to function. They keep you logged in during the order journey, remember which step you’re on, and store your cookie consent choice. We cannot switch these off, and they do not require your consent under UK law (PECR Regulation 6).
Marketing / advertising cookies Consent required
With your permission, we load the Awin affiliate tracking tag. This lets us measure referrals from partner websites and the performance of our advertising. These cookies are set by a third party (Awin / awin1.com) and are only loaded after you click “Accept all” on the cookie banner. If you reject or do not respond, they are never set.
Cookies we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Category | Duration | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
pop_cc |
Stores your cookie consent choice (all = accepted marketing, essential = rejected non-essential) |
Essential | 6 months | POP Mobile (first party) |
PHPSESSID |
Standard PHP session — keeps your order in progress and links checkout steps together | Essential | Browser session | POP Mobile (first party) |
_aw_m_51999_aw_sn_51999awc |
Awin affiliate tracking — attributes your visit to a referring partner so we can measure our advertising | Marketing | Up to 30 days | Awin (third party — Awin privacy policy) |
If we add analytics or other non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this table and ask for your consent before setting them.
Your choices
On your first visit we show a banner asking you to Accept all or Reject non-essential cookies. Both options are a single click — neither is harder than the other.
You can change your mind at any time by clicking the button below or the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page:
We remember your choice for approximately six months, then ask again.
Browser controls
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Every major browser lets you do this:
Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working properly (for example, the checkout).
Legal basis
Strictly necessary cookies are set under the “strictly necessary” exemption in the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), Regulation 6. No consent is required for these.
Marketing and analytics cookies are set only with your prior consent, which you give by clicking “Accept all” on the cookie banner. This satisfies PECR Regulation 6 and the consent requirements of UK GDPR (Articles 6(1)(a) and 7).
Who is responsible
POP Mobile is a trading name of POP Telecom Ltd. For anything related to cookies or data protection, you can reach us at support@popmobiles.co.uk.
More about how we handle your personal data is in our privacy section of the terms & conditions.
Changes to this policy
If we start using new types of cookies, we will update this page and — where consent is needed — ask you again before setting them.
